    summary of position

    Netherrealm Studios, a leading video game developer is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join their IT Team. This position will work closely with both network / desktop IT teams and the industry leading game development disciplines to provide system design, performance analysis and engineering of innovative solutions for various cross discipline systems and processes. In addition, this position will lead mission critical projects, software and hardware installation and configuration, problem resolution and performance tuning, and serve as a mentor to junior network game development support team members. The Senior Systems Engineer will also represent our studio in various enterprise efforts as directed by the IT Director.

    job responsibilities

    • Provides level 3-5 day-to-day support for all console and mobile game development requests, and production system environments running in all hosting platforms.
    • Leads the engineering and development of innovative technologies and best practices for internal and external hosting of AWS and VMWare systems in support of strategic plans, roadmap, and system and game development lifecycle management. Implements complex and comprehensive solutions/projects related to performance, availability of systems and security.
    • Provides maintenance, management and support of current On-Prem and Cloud infrastructure. Manages vendor relationship and performance pertaining to engineering, design, technology roadmap and system optimization.
    • Participates in projects requested by game development teams or internally to facilitate improvements to production processes and/or infrastructure.
    • Provides leadership and execution of initiatives related to capacity and planning, high availability and overall hosting security standards.

    • Bachelor’s degree. Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related technical discipline preferred; advanced degree is a plus.
    • Minimum eight years of network engineering and support experience.
    • Proven experience with architecting, designing systems infrastructure to support business needs.
    • Strong experience in system design, implementation, system capacity planning of NetApp, VMWare, Cisco UCS.
    • Strong experience with network technologies including firewalls, content filters, routing/switching, VLANs, and wireless.
    • Experienced with cloud solutions design & operations (such as AWS, Azure etc).
    • Experienced with Linux (RedHat, etc) and Microsoft Windows OS (including Windows 2012/2016 servers).
    • An understanding of and an interest in emerging technologies and industry standards.
    • Solid understanding of virtual and physical network, storage, and security concepts and practices.
    • Solid understanding of IP networking / routing.
    • Experienced managing a large-scale distributed configuration of Perforce to serve teams operating worldwide.
    • Knowledge of a wide variety of Microsoft products including but not limited to: Active Directory, SQL, System Center Suite, PowerShell, Automations, Exchange, Office 365.
    • An in-depth knowledge of any of the following will be considered an asset: IP routing and switching (Cisco/HP/H3C based products), LAN\\WAN architecture, VMWare, NetApp storage and security (Intrusion Prevention, AD, etc.).
    • Solid leadership skills and ability to successfully delegate work and mentor peers.
    • Strong technical skill-set and ability to learn innovative technologies quickly.
    • Strong project management, prioritization, and coordination skills.
    • Advanced knowledge of JIRA, Confluence and Crowd.
    • Excellent customer service skills and follow-through.
    • Solid problem solving and root cause analysis skill.
    • Excellent time management and multitasking skill.
    • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
    • Fine attention to detail and quality of work.
    • Strong scripting skills (e.g. PowerShell, Python).
    • Previous game development support is a plus.
    • Cisco certifications a plus: CCNA, CCNP etc.
